HC Deb 10 November 1959 vol 613 cc33-4W
Mr. H. Wilson

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the need for additional factory employment in Huyton, particularly having regard to the numbers unemployed and the large number travelling long distances to work; and what steps he proposes to take to achieve further industrial development in the area.

Mr. Maudling

I am aware of the need for further employment in Huyton, and a factory extension to provide 1,000 new jobs is now being built there. The needs of the area have been recognised by siting one of the three advance factories in Merseyside, and we have given wide publicity to the fact that in suitable cases factories will be built or grants or loans considered for firms willing to set up or expand there.
