HC Deb 10 November 1959 vol 613 c34W
Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will now state what special machinery he envisages to ensure that the provisions of the Anti-Dumping Act are not infringed in connection with the importation of Russian consumer goods under the new trade arrangements; and what is the export price and the fair market price, respectively, of Russian consumer goods for which import quotas have already been arranged.

Mr. Maudling

Every application for the imposition of an anti-dumping duty is considered in accordance with the terms of the Act and no special machinery is necessary in connection with imports from the U.S.S.R. The relationship between the export and fair market prices of an imported product is only determined after an application has been submitted by an industry which considers that it is being injured or threatened with injury from dumped imports.
