HC Deb 13 May 1959 vol 605 c142W
Mr. Beswick

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if, in view of the inconvenience caused to both road users and nearby residents and businesses by the undue time taken to complete road-works, and having in mind particularly the thirteen months which have elapsed since work first started on the widening of one section of the Uxbridge Road, A420, he will consider ways and means of ensuring that adequate equipment and labour is available for all road schemes authorised by him so that they may be completed in the shortest possible time.

Mr. Watkinson

I am sure that highway authorities in general take steps to ensure that their road schemes are completed as soon as reasonably possible. I am not aware that the scheme mentioned by the hon. Member has been held up by lack of adequate equipment or labour.
