Group Number of Adult Vacancies outstanding (18 years of age and over)

All established vacancies in the Civil Service are dealt with by the Civil Service Commission. Temporary specialist and technical vacancies in the Civil Service are notified to the Ministry of Labour, but separate figures are not available.

The placing arrangements of the Department provide that vacancies are given local, regional or national circulation as appropriate. This means that vacancies which cannot be filled by local labour are brought to the notice of unemployed people in other areas, particularly in the areas of high unemployment.

All employment exchanges are aware of the employment opportunities in national and local government service, and bring them to the notice of suitable registrants.
