Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation the position with regard to the work of reconstructing A.465 between Bryn Mawr and Abergavenny a start on which, according to the official statement on 25th July, 1957, was authorised for 1957–58. and between Hirwaun and Bryn Mawr, for which a start was authorised for 1958–59; and what is to be the road width of each section.
§ Mr. WatkinsonPreparatory work is well advanced on the schemes for reconstructing the "Heads of the Valleys Road (A.465) between Abergavenny and Hirwaun. I hope that it will be possible to start constructional work later this year on the first section between Abergavenny and Brynmawr, on which a 33 ft. carriageway will be provided. The carriageway design and alignment of the second section between Brynmawr and Hirwaun are being reconsidered but the authorisation of work on this second section will follow as soon as practicable after that of the first.
