HC Deb 05 May 1959 vol 605 c25W
69. Mr. Moss

asked the President of the Board of Trade to what extent Swiss watches, luminised by means of radioactive strontium, are imported into this country; and what steps he will take to terminate their importation.

Mr. Vaughan-Morgan

According to my information, very few, if any, such watches are imported, but if we were advised by the competent authorities that they were harmful, we should certainly consider the prohibition of imports. I understand that the possible hazards from luminous watches are among the subjects for consideration by the Radioactive Substances Advisory Committee.
