§ 61. Mr. Gibsonasked the Minister of Labour how many men have been trained at his Department's Waddon Training Centre for Scientific Glassblowing; how many have been placed in employment; how many are at present unemployed; and what steps are being taken to find employment for these men.
§ Mr. WoodThe number of persons completing training in Scientific Glassblowing at the Waddon Government Training Centre between June, 1948, when the course was set up, and 9th March, 1959, the latest date for which figures are available, is 326. Of this number 315, including the seven who completed training in the last three months, were placed in employment in the trade on completion of their training or shortly after. It is not known whether any are at present unemployed; if so the normal placing facilities of employment exchanges are available to them.
