§ 77. Mr. Ridsdaleasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will introduce legislation to amend the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, to enable properties of Trinity House in the borough of Harwich and elsewhere to be rated.
§ Mr. WatkinsonI cannot hold out hope of early legislation, but when opportunity offers I propose to introduce legislation similar to the Valuation and Rating (Scotland) Act, 1956, to authorise the Trinity House to make contributions in lieu of rates in respect of non-operational lighthouse property belonging to them in England and Wales.
