58. Mr. Leather

asked the Minister of Defence why, during the course of the previous 12 months, only 9 per cent. of Service officers crossing the Atlantic on commercial airlines flew first class, whereas the comparable figure of civilian personnel given by the Foreign Office is approximately 75 per cent.

The great majority of the Foreign Office officials concerned travelled first class, only because tourist class accommodation was not available.
