HC Deb 25 March 1959 vol 602 cc146-7W
Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenport

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will now give an indication of the principles to be followed in the allocation of the recent small increase which has been made in the monetary value of the imported bulb quota; and to what extent, having regard to recent price increases, this will result in an increase in the number and weight of bulbs which may be imported.

Mr. Vaughan-Morgan

Up to half of the increase will be available to meet claims, on grounds of hardship, for new or larger allocations. The remainder will be used to increase existing allocations.

I understand that the minimum prices of Dutch bulbs have recently been increased, but it remains to be seen whether average prices will be higher.
