§ Mr. Tilneyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in any discussions with the four occupying Powers about the future of Berlin, he will emphasize the need for the establishment there of a permanent United Nations police force as well as, or instead of, the troops of the occupying Powers.
§ Mr. R. AllanHer Majesty's Government are at present consulting their Allies about possible ways and means of reaching a solution of the Berlin problem together with that of Germany. I am not in a position to give details of any agreed proposals which might be put to the U.S.S.R. as the fourth occupying Power. The possibility of the United Nations playing some part in the settlement of the Berlin problem is naturally being borne in mind.
