HC Deb 24 March 1959 vol 602 c97W
8. Mr. Barter

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works, as representing the Lord President of the Council, what steps are being taken by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research to encourage the public, especially the young, to take an interest in the Geological Museum at South Kensington.

Mr. H. Nicholls

A variety of popular exhibits, dioramas and relief models are on display, and over 20 public lectures and demonstrations are given every month. The services of a Guide-Lecturer are widely used by special organised parties from schools and colleges. Over the past eleven years, attendances have risen from 250,000 to 380,000.
