65. Mr. Beswick

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what are the terms of reference of the inquiry which opens on 7th April into the sewage disposal problem of the Colne Valley Sewerage Board; and whether he will ensure that all affected local authorities, including the Uxbridge Borough Council, will have the opportunity of giving evidence.

There are no terms of reference, but the notice of the inquiry, of which I am sending the hon. Member a copy, indicates the matters to which the inquiry is directed. These are, briefly, the schemes submitted by the Board for works extensions and sludge disposal, and the associated questions of planning and compulsory purchase of land. Any person with an interest in these matters will be able to give evidence.
