Mr. Wadeasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what representations he has received from the Association of Municipal Corporations on the subject of offensive noises caused by building operations to the inconvenience and distress of residents living in the neighbourhood of such building operations; and what steps he proposes to take in the matter.
§ Mr. BevinsThe Association urged some time ago that local authorities needed further powers to prevent or reduce nuisance from noise, but I cannot find that they have made representations to my right hon. Friend on the particular point referred to in the first part of the Question. As regards the second part, I cannot usefully add to the information given in my right hon. Friend's reply to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Stretford (Mr. Storey) on 3rd March.
