§ Mr. Malcolm MacPhersonasked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what progress has been made in carrying out the decision of the Montreal Conference to establish a new scheme of Commonwealth scholarships and fellowships.
§ Mr. AlportThe United Kingdom authorities are now discussing with representatives of the universities and of other educational interests how to give effect to the decision taken by Commonwealth Ministers at Montreal last September to establish a new scheme of Commonwealth scholarships and fellowships. Details will not he finally worked out until all Commonwealth Governments have exchanged views on the subject at the Education Conference which, as I said in reply to a Question from the hon. Member for Rugby (Mr. J. Johnson) on 4th December, 1958, the United Kingdom Government will convene later this year.
