§ 81. Mr. Grimondasked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what representations have been made to the Government of Eire against the release of prisoners of the Irish Republican Army and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. AlportOn the instructions of my noble Friend, the British Ambassador in Dublin last week expressed our concern at the threat to the security of Northern Ireland involved in the release of the remaining I.R.A. detainees. I am sure that the House will have noted with satisfaction the recent public statement by Mr. de Valera that these releases involve no change in the position of his Government in regard to armed groups and their illegal activities.
