HC Deb 10 March 1959 vol 601 cc97-9W
72. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, in view of 01: fact that the North Eastern Agricultural Co-operative Society Limited is registered under the Alkali, &c., Works Regulation Acts, he will now take steps under those Acts or otherwise to get rid of the noxious fumes from the premises of that Society so as to free the residents in the Bannermill Lane area of Aberdeen from those fumes.

Mr. Maclay

As a result of the meeting between Aberdeen Corporation officials, representatives of the firm concerned and the Chief Alkali Inspector on 3rd March, the Corporation will, I understand, be considering shortly whether they should finance an investigation to determine the cost of erecting a higher chimney than that proposed by the firm, in order to secure better dispersal of the fumes from these works.
