§ 74. Sir J. Duncanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland the total estimated cost of public works for completion this year so far approved by him, the object of which is to relieve unemployment.
§ Mr. MaclayI have consulted local authorities and public bodies in Scotland about measures to relieve unemployment in their areas. I am glad to say that, with their co-operation, I expect that additional works to the amount of over £91 million will be carried out by March, 1960, which would otherwise have been carried out later. This figure is made up as follows:
