HC Deb 10 March 1959 vol 601 cc102-3W
82. Mr. E. L. Mallalieu

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer on what grounds he has refused wharf privileges to Messrs. L. S. D. Transport Limited at Neap House Wharf on the Trent, near Scunthorpe.

Mr. Amory

The Commissioners of Customs and Excise refused to approve this wharf for the unloading of ships from abroad because they considered that there already was a sufficient number of approved wharves in this area, and that the additional manpower and expense would therefore not be justified.
