HC Deb 02 March 1959 vol 601 cc7-8W
63. Mr. Malcolm MacMillan

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will now introduce legislation providing the same protection for the inshore fishermen of this country against trawl fishing as is assured to the Faroes fishermen under the agreement between Her Majesty's Government and the Government of Denmark; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Godber

Her Majesty's Government do not propose to consider any alteration in the fishery limits of the United Kingdom pending the outcome of the Second World Conference on the Law of the Sea to be held in the spring of 1960. I hope that this conference will produce lasting agreement on this difficult question.
