HC Deb 18 June 1959 vol 607 c61W
26. Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate he has made of the effect of this year's innovation of Trooping the Colour on Saturday, instead of on a week-day, from the point of view of traffic interference; and whether Saturday will now be recognised as the normal day for this ceremony.

Mr. Renton

My right hon. Friend is informed by the Commissioner of Police that there was less interference with traffic this year than in previous years. It was announced in theLondon Gazette on 18th April, 1958, that it is proposed to hold the official celebration of The Queen's Birthday annually on a Saturday early in June.
