Police Appeals Act, 1927 (Section 2 Inquiries)

Mr. Callaghan

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what period elapsed between the date of hearing of the seven inquiries held under Section 2 of the Police Appeals Act, 1927, and the date of notification of the result to the appellants.

The periods were 28, 62, 108, 107, 37, 25 and 48 days. These periods include the time taken by the person holding the inquiry to reach his conclusion and complete his report and the time taken to prepare the transcript of the proceedings, which may be considerable.
