Mr. Sparksasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he will state the estimated number of dwellings damaged and destroyed by enemy action 121W in the last war; and how many of these were repaired and rebuilt in each year during the period 1945 to 1951.
§ Mr. H. BrookeIn England and Wales, 218,215 houses were destroyed or damaged beyond repair and a further 544,858 were severely damaged. In addition, over 3 million houses were less seriously damaged. The numbers of destroyed and severely damaged houses repaired in each year are given in the attached table. I have no similar figures for the slightly damaged houses.
