HC Deb 21 January 1959 vol 598 cc23-4W
42. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what progress has been made to date under the capital investment programme with the reconstruction of Barking station and approaches; and when the work is expected to he completed.

Mr. Nugent

The British Transport Commission inform me that the main flyover has been completed. Considerable progress has been made on the London Transport fly-over and under-pass, and on the alterations to the running lines and the construction of a subway between the station platforms; these works should be finished by December.

A scheme for the reconstruction of the station buildings has just been authorised by the Commission. Work is planned to start this year probably in August and will take about two years to complete.
