HC Deb 25 February 1959 vol 600 c167W
101. Commander Maitland

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that telephone exchanges in the Tetford and Horncastle areas are overloaded and incapable of carrying further subscribers; what immediate plans he has in hand to improve telephonic communication in this area; and how soon he anticipates such an improvement will take effect.

Mr. Marples

The Tetford exchange is almost full, but plans to extend it, and to provide new cables, are in hand. The extended exchange will be ready within 12 months, and the new cables a little later. At Horncastle capacity is available at the exchange, but new cables are needed. These should be ready in the early summer.
