HC Deb 25 February 1959 vol 600 cc166-7W
100. Mr. Edelman

asked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been drawn to the large number of unsatisfied applicants for telephone lines in Coventry; and what action he is taking in order to assist these applicants, some of whom have been waiting for considerable periods.

Mr. Marples

There are shortages of lines in certain parts of the city and nearly 600 people are waiting for telephones, apart from 500 whose telephones are in course of being provided. One large cable scheme has been started. Two more will be commenced in the next few months. And we expect to provide about 1,800 telephones in the next 12 months.
