HC Deb 18 February 1959 vol 600 c61W
98. Mr. Harold Davies

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is prepared to impose a speed limit on the main road through the village of Rushton, near Leek, Staffordshire, in view of the fact that this road is crossed several times a day by school children.

Mr. Nugent

A 30 m.p.h. speed limit would not be an adequate or appropriate safeguard for children on an important trunk road of this kind, which they should cross only under escort.
