§ 116. Mr. Warbeyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what requests for the manufacture of weapons restricted or forbidden by the Paris Agreements have been submitted to the Council of Western European Union by the German Federal Republic since May, 1955; on what dates the requests were considered; what was the nature of the requests in each case; and what was the decision of the Council in each case.
§ Mr. R. AllanA request to permit the manufacture of guided anti-tank missiles was approved by the Western European Union Council on 9th May, 1958. A request to permit the construction of a training ship of 4,800 to 5,000 tons displacement was approved by the W.E.U. Council on 16th October, 1958.
§ 117 and 118. Mr. Warbeyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (1) what action has been taken by the Armaments Control Agency of Western European Union to control the level of stocks of nuclear weapons in the German Federal Republic;
(2) what action has been taken by the Armaments Control Agency of Western European Union to control the import of nuclear weapons into the German Federal Republic.
§ Mr. R. AllanThe revised Brussels Treaty provides for the control of stocks of atomic weapons held by members of W.E.U. on the mainland of Europe (and of imports into continental countries) only after the experimental stage has been passed and effective production of such weapons has started there. This stage has not been reached.
