§ Captain Kerbyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware of the injustice done to Mr Thomas W. Dagg, a British engineer resident in Bagdad, by the refusal of Her Majesty's Embassy, in Bagdad to compensate him adequately for damage to his property leased to them; and what steps he proposes to take to remedy this situation.
41W
§ Mr. R. AllanHer Majesty's Embassy declined to meet in full Mr. Dagg's claim for compensation in respect of alleged damage done to his wife's house while it was leased to the Embassy, because they were satisfied that the defects referred to were a landlord's responsibility. In order to demonstrate their good faith, however, Her Majesty's Embassy proposed that the case be referred to arbitration. The arbitrator has now made his award and the amount he directed should be paid to Mrs. Dagg by Her Majesty's Embassy has already been paid.
