asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the establishment of the Northern Rhodesian police; and what are the numbers of European and African officers, respectively, giving the total of Africans who hold a rank above that of sergeant.

On 31st December, 1958, the establishment of the Police Force was 4,944—made up of 814 Europeans and 4,130 Africans. The establishment of gazetted officers was 121 and the strength 105 (all Europeans). 150 Africans held ranks above that of sergeant including 31 assistant inspectors and 60 sub-inspectors.
