HC Deb 10 February 1959 vol 599 c188W
Captain Kerby

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether eight of the Dark Class fast patrol boats, built during the last four years, are now for disposal; and how many of these eight boats have been used in active commission.

Mr. Orr-Ewing

Yes. They have all been in active commission. The reasons for the reduction of our coastal forces were explained in a reply given to the right hon. Member for Rochester and Chatham (Mr. Bottomley), and the hon. and learned Member for Northampton (Mr. Paget) on 24th July, 1957.

Captain Kerby

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he will give the approximate cost of a vessel of the Dark Class.

Mr. Orr-Ewing

£300,000.
