(2) if he will state to the nearest convenient date in respect of each metropolitan borough council the number of invitations issued to owners of requisitioned 164W houses to accept licensees as statutory tenants under Section 4 of the Requisitioned Houses and Housing (Amendment) Act, 1955, and the number of owners who have accepted invitations under that Section.
§ Mr. H. BrookeInformation showing the numbers of invitations issued, or the numbers of owners approached under Section 4 of the 1955 Act is not available. I have not asked local authorities to keep a record, or make a return, for either of these purposes since 31st March, 1957.
In England and Wales as a whole, the number of invitations accepted at the latest available date, 31st March, 1958, was 24,409. The metropolitan borough councils had 16,080 invitations accepted; figures for each borough are given below. I intend to ask local authorities for fresh returns at 31st March, 1959.
