HC Deb 05 February 1959 vol 599 c122W
117. Mr. W. R. Williams

asked the President of the Board of Trade why licences were granted to the British Transport Commission for the import of seventeen tampers required in connection with the railways electrical programme; and what steps were taken, before granting the licences, to ensure that similar articles were not obtainable from home sources.

Sir D. Eccles

There are no import restrictions on railway tampers and licences are not required.
