asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he will make a further statement on the progress of the Tyne Tunnel.

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Tynemouth (Dame Irene Ward) on 20th January last. The deputation front the Tyne Tunnel Joint Committee is coming to see me on 19th February.
