HC Deb 02 February 1959 vol 599 c8W
67. Colonel Beamish

asked the Minister of Supply what stage has been reached in the production or development of the Bristol 192B. the Westland Wessex, the Westland Westminster helicopters and the Fairey Rotodyne, to meet the requirements of the Services; and, in view of the growing importance of vertical lift aircraft to increase military mobility, what orders have so far been placed for any of these aircraft.

Mr. Aubrey Jones

Orders have been placed for the Bristol 192B and Westland Wessex helicopters for the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, respectively. The Westland Westminster and Fairey Rotodyne are still in the prototype stage and no military requirement has yet been stated: they could both, however, be of interest for Service purposes.
