HC Deb 02 February 1959 vol 599 cc3-4W
37 and 38. Mr. Willis

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance (1) what reply he has made to the British Legion, Scotland, representations asking for the right of appeal against the Minister's decision in cases concerning certain categories of widows of 1939 to 1945, Service men 1914–18, war widows 1914–18, ex-Service men, and where claims for certain supplementary allowances have been rejected;

(2) what reply he has made to the representations made by the British Legion, Scotland, that equal treatment should be given to pensioners of both wars and the submission that a new Royal Warrant should be introduced counting service in the 1914–18 war and service on or after 3rd September, 1939, with a view to achieving this.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I am afraid it is not possible within the tolerable limits of a Parliamentary Answer to set out the full replies which I sent to the British Legion, Scotland, on these points, but I will gladly send the hon. Member copies of the relevant parts of my letters to the Legion.
