HL Deb 17 December 1959 vol 220 c626WA
LORD FRASER OF LONSDALE

asked Her Majesty's Government whether they are satisfied that a penalty of a fine and endorsement of the driving licence was adequate in the recent case where a person of 55 years of age drove a motor car at 125 miles an hour on a main road.

EARL BATHURST

It is for the court to decide what penalty to impose in a particular case in the light of all the circumstances, and it would not be proper for the Government to comment on the court's decision.
