HC Deb 17 December 1959 vol 615 c211W
81. Mr. Hayman

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of increasing public concern about the proposal for siting a new prison on Dartmoor, he will now arrange for a public inquiry before a decision is taken.

83. Miss Bacon

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department the reasons for the decision to build a new prison on Dartmoor.

Mr. Vosper

My right hon. Friend has come to the conclusion that it would be desirable to have a public inquiry into this proposal and an announcement will be made in due course about the arrangements for it.
