HL Deb 17 December 1959 vol 220 c626WA
LORD STONHAM

asked Her Majesty's Government the number of police officers in the United Kingdom who were convicted in the courts during the last twelve months, to the latest convenient date, and, of these, the number sentenced to terms of imprisonment; and if they will furnish separately, similar figures in respect to the Metropolitan Police.

EARL BATHURST

The only figures readily available in respect of police forces in Great Britain are for indictable offences in the Metropolitan Police. They show that in the twelve months ended 30th November, 1959, 16 officers were convicted of indictable offences, of whom 10 were sentenced to imprisonment.

House rose at a quarter before nine o'clock.
