Gale warnings for shipping operating in the North Sea, the English Channel, the Irish Sea and the North Atlantic seaboard are issued by the Meteorological Office. They are broadcast from G.P.O. Coast Radio Stations by wireless telegraphy and radio telephony and by the B.B.C.
