HC Deb 16 December 1959 vol 615 c163W
67. Mr. Dudley Smith

asked the Minister of Transport if he will consider imposing a 30 miles-per-hour speed limit for a quarter of a mile on each side of the Sutton Court roundabout of the Cromwell Road extension, Chiswick.

Mr. Hay

We are not satisfied, on the evidence available, that the reintroduction of a 30 m.p.h. limit on this stretch of road would make for greater safety. New yellow lighting and larger illuminated advance signs giving warning of a roundabout ahead are being erected. The effect of these measures on the accident record will be carefully studied.
