HC Deb 16 December 1959 vol 615 c193W
Mr. Sydney Irving

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many Alkali inspectors there are at present; whether he proposes to appoint any further inspectors; and how their duties are allocated to the present inspectorate.

Mr. H. Brooke

In England and Wales, there are at present 23 alkali inspectors of various grades. I intend to appoint more inspectors in 1960, as training opportunities occur. Under a directing staff centred in London the inspectorate is organised into 12 districts, each in charge of a District Inspector who, in some districts, is assisted by an Inspector.
