Mr. Willis

asked the Lord Advocate who were the last three Advocates Depute to be appointed; when the announcement of their appointments was made; and what was the date from which the appointments took effect.

The following appointments were announced in the Press on 16th September, 1959:

Mr. Law, who had been Extra Advocate Depute at the Glasgow Circuit, to be an Advocate Depute.

Mr. Wylie, who had been Advocate Depute for the Sheriff Court, to be Extra Advocate Depute at the Glasgow Circuit.

Mr. Stewart to be Advocate Depute for the Sheriff Court.

These appointment were to take effect on 6th October, which was the day on which the Courts resumed after the Summer Vacation and on which the resignation of a former Advocate Depute took effect.
