HC Deb 15 December 1959 vol 615 c122W
60. Mr. Lawson

asked the Lord Advocate what legislative proposals he has in mind to protect debtors whose liabilities have been incurred under personal credit schemes from being subjected to arrestment of wages and poinding of personal effects.

Mr. Maclay

I have been asked to reply.

If Parliament approves the provisions of the Bill introduced by the hon. Member for Central Ayrshire (Mr. Manuel), the Bill will give increased protection against arrestment of wages generally. I do not think any special protection would be justified in respect of liabilities incurred under any particular kind of transaction.
