HC Deb 15 December 1959 vol 615 c144W
Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the number of detainees in Kenya; and how many of these had their cases referred to the Advisory Committee by the Special Commissioner as suggested in the Fairn Committee Report.

Mr. J. Amery

On 10th December, there were 868 persons in Kenya detained under the Emergency Regulations, including 115 who were convicted persons until the recent Act of Grace. The Special Commissioner has not referred any of their cases to the Advisory Committee, since he has not yet completed his review of those cases which could be released on his own authority.
