HC Deb 14 December 1959 vol 615 cc100-1W
76. Mr. Ross

asked the Minister of Labour if he will make a statement about the industrial dispute at Hunterston Nuclear Power Station.

77. Mr. Manuel

asked the Minister of Labour what steps he is taking to bring to an end the industrial dispute at Hunterston Atomic Power Station.

Mr. Heath

My officers in Scotland, who have been in constant touch with the employer and the trade unions concerned, convened a meeting between them on 2nd December, at which there was discussion of the conditions under which operations might be resumed. The firm tabled proposals on which negotiations are to take place between itself and the individual unions, and the meeting was adjourned until 30th December for this purpose. My officers will continue to do all they can to assist towards a settlement.
