HC Deb 03 December 1959 vol 614 c158W
108. Mr. Hornby

asked the Minister of State for Commonwealth Relations what publicity is being given, with the assistance of his Department, to the Commonwealth Exhibition in the cities where it is being shown.

Mr. Alport

Wide publicity was given in the regional Press, on radio and television, to the opening ceremony in Liverpool, at which Her Royal Highness the Princess Margaret declared the Exhibition and Weeks open.

An increase in the volume of poster and leaflet publicity will be undertaken at subsequent Weeks. Attendance has already exceeded expectations and at the end of the eleventh day had reached 64,153.
