30. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Postmaster-General what is the total number of telephones now installed in private dwellings in the Borough of Leyton; how many have been applied for but are not yet installed; and, approximately, what is the number of daily incoming and outgoing telephone calls in the borough.

Mr. Bevins

On 30th September there were about 4,700 telephones in private dwellings in Leyton; 50 applications were in course of being met and 6 were held up, and 360 private telephones were installed in the past 12 months.

There are about 29,000 incoming calls a day and 36,000 outgoing.
