HC Deb 30 April 1959 vol 604 cc154-5W
Mr. Hale

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether is now in a position to introduce simpler form of Income Tax return.

Mr. Simon

Every effort is made to keep Income Tax returns as simple as the subject matter allows. If the hon. Member has any suggestions to make I will gladly consider them.

Mr. Hale

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will make provision for an Income Tax paper on request to be provided with a clear and intelligible written statement showing the full basis of the computation of any demand note for Income Tax to be paid by him.

Mr. Simon

The instructions issued by the Board of Inland Revenue to its staff already provide for a taxpayer to be given, on request, a full written explanation of the computation of any Income Tax he is called upon to pay.
