HC Deb 29 April 1959 vol 604 cc134-5W
90. Mr. Iremonger

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will introduce legislation to control the growing nuisance of amplified music and chimes emanating from the vehicles of ice cream vendors.

Mr. R. A. Butler

No. As I said in reply to my hon. Friend on 23rd April, many local authorities have made—and others have power to make—byelaws making it an offence to operate an amplifier in a street so as to cause a nuisance.
